XL shirts

I dug out some of my old Albany band shirts.

I used to have a lot more before I started selling some of my stuff off a few years ago. Originally, I never planed on selling the ones I did but I got offered a lot of money for a few them so you know...

There were a lot of great shirts that I didn't have that I still want.

If anyone has a Cutthroat "Swollen Shut" or the War-time Manner shirt that has the Statue of Liberty being strangled on the front and the "Troy,NY" license plate on the back let me know.
The Section 8 "lock up your daughters..." one too.

Section 8 whiskey glass

Here's a glass that Drew ( from Section 8) gave me in 1998. A girl he was friends with made these as a project in college or at vocational school or something. As far as I know there are only 4 of these in existence. If that's true then at least one of the 4 band members didn't get one.

Man, I loved Section 8. There's no denying that they were one of the best bands to ever come out of this area. Their music was dark, heavy, melodic, and as it turned out very accessible.

For the first few years it was just the hardcore kids that were at their shows, but by 1997 everyone was into them. A lot of goth kids and college jocks got into the band and were coming out to their shows in droves. It got to the point where they were playing back to back sold out shows at the QE2. Not only did they sell out the place but there would be like a 100 people that couldn't get in.

I eventually stopped going to their shows at the QE2 because they had become way to packed with meatheads for it to be fun. I loved the band, but getting caught up in a push pit at the QE2 when the place was beyond the point of capacity was to much for me to deal with.

I still saw them a lot in Poughkeepsie, Newburgh, Massachusetts and places like the Tune Inn in Connecticut. I was happier seeing them in a room full of hardcore kids even if I did have to leave Albany to do it.

They were huge in Connecticut. Everyone that I have ever met that went to shows in Connecticut talks about how great Section 8 was.

Without a doubt they could have been on a huge metal label touring as a national band but things never went that direction. The band split in July of 1998 and that was that.

Albany hardcore in the 90's

There's been a lot of talk these days about what was going on in the 90's hardcore scene in Albany,NY. I can't lie. This is one of my favorite subjects to talk about since I still consider it the most significant time period of my life. When everything fell into place for me and ultimately led me down the path to where I am today.

From 1994 up until the end of 2001 or so I was completely immersed in all things hardcore. I have a ton of shit that I collected during that time period. Expect a lot of stuff up here soon.

I have some demos to rip to mp3's which will be on mediafire.com for download.

Check out the page I made at www.myspace.com/QE2albany
A lot of good videos of Albany bands as well as a ton of show fliers in the pictures section.

Until I get more up here, enjoy this old gem I got yesterday from a kid I grew up with in Troy.
